Colour specifications for gas cylinders

Posted by Vincent Larsson on

The cylinder label remains the main method for identifying the gas inside, while the color coding of the cylinder body offers additional guidance. The color on the cylinder's shoulder, the curved top section, indicates the European standard color coding.

The new standard, EN 1089-3, which has replaced the previous BS349 color scheme, aims to enhance safety standards in the gas industry. While shoulder colors indicate gas properties, many common pure gases have specific, distinct colors.

    • Argon: Dark Green
